Kampar, July 12 (J-on) - One of the most spectacular event ever broke the silence of the normally quiet town of Kampar last night. All mamak restaurants and night cafés in New Town were flocked by hundreds of mostly UTAR and KTAR students by midnight.

It was the live final match for the FIFA World Cup 2010.

This year as the match between Spain and Netherlands was in the midst of being officiated, audiences at Maha Maju Mamak restarant were already cheering for their favourite team.

The entire road along Maha Maju was sealed off for fans to sit in

Crowds cheered at each goal when previous matches of Spain and Netherlands were replayed. Claps abound when the two teams appeared on screen, indicating the starting of the final match.

Despite the drizzling sky towards the end of the game, spectators were eager to stay on till the end.

During the 30 minutes extra time, Spain’s Andres Iniesta secured a dramatic goal at the last four minutes (116th minute) before the game ends. Spain lifted the FIFA World Cup for the first time ever in their glorious 1-0 victory over Netherlands.

This is the first time Kampar celebrated the World Cup in the presence of a burgeoning UTAR community.
