Kampar, July 8 (J-on) – Kampar Traffic Police Department has given warning to University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) that summons would be issued to drivers who illegally park cars along road side of East gate, said contractor worker William Ho.
“The police will come soon, but I do not know the exact date,” he told J-on here yesterday.
Ho who was assigned by the vacant land’s developer to set up barricades along the road here said the Traffic Police Department had received complaints about unorganised parking at the East Gate compound, causing cars being scratched and accident occurrences.
Ho refused to provide details when asked about the developer’s name, adding that both the developer and university had compromised with the police to settle parking issue internally before summons action taken.
“We are trying to help students to handle this issue, and developer had allocated a piece of land right behind East Gate for students to park,” he said.
Developer had allowed this land for use of student parking
He said the police would not take action against students who park cars on the land provided.
Ho expressed his disappointment towards the actions of student drivers when first started setting up road blocks last Saturday.
Barricades were set up since last Saturday
“Some students even moved and banged the sign boards. Some even stubbornly park beside the sign boards, blocking the main entrance,” he said.
Some road blocks were found moved
“I hope they (student drivers) can cooperate with us so that this problem will meet a solution,” he said.
Ho said he would put blocks on the road from UTAR East Gate entrance heading to Eastlake this Saturday.
