The fundamental mission of J-on is to provide a world of advocacy and active participation for the UTAR community. You will notice that J-on is growing gradually since the first establishment on January 10 this year.

Along the way, the editorial board had received various opinions from many parties on this news portal such as opening a public comment section for all the news published.

There have been countless times that the editorial board had tried reasoning on this issue through the Facebook fan page, however there were some ignoramuses that have disregarded the given reasons without proper understanding of mass communication systems.

Ergo the editorial board has decided that the time is right to implement a Letter to the Editor (LTTE) policy for all our beloved readers. LLTE is to encourage mature expression of speech and thought, so as to stimulate inspiring exchanging of ideas among the readers.

Now, you can send us a letter to tell the public what you are thinking, what is your opinion on certain issue, and to provide suggestions to the authority.

The board will publish your letter on the site if your letter is able to provide the public with some useful ideas.

Let me make it clear about the concept of LTTE. It is not about sending anonymous letters to us for illogical and irrational comments.

In LTTE, you can support or oppose editorial stands with solid points, comment on current issues including the news stories published on the site, as well as correcting errors or misinterpretations on the site.

As a news portal established by a group of Journalism students, we will upload the LTTE policy in the most professional manner as possible, one which we hope to rival mainstream newspapers.

Do send us your letters now. We are awaiting healthy discussions online.

Effective Information flow plays an essential role for us in this modern daily life in order to perform work efficiently.

One who is always well-informed will never miss great things in life.

We need to know what happens before we can seek out a good solution in any matter that dissatisfies us.

We feel something is going wrong most of the time through observing the current consequences brought by the system, but we do not know why.

The intelligence and representatives are not able to solve the problem without knowing the root of the problematic system.

Thus, the root has to be acknowledged to the public; it is crucial to get things settled.

In fact, all of the students seriously lack these kinds of information, due to the non-transparency culture practiced by bureaucrats.

“You don’t deserve to know too much on this and that; do not ask too much questions as well, or you will get into big trouble.”

This is what the bureaucrats tell us all the time, but we seldom ask why we can not ask too much.

If you still do not think that information which tells you what is going on is important for you, then you will forever be living in a cave of darkness.

If you wish to get out of the cave, you must do something. However, before you can do something, you have to know something.

Hence, the importance of information mastering is undeniable.

The question is, “Have you mastered the information?”

The very first month for J-on had ended, and more great challenges to be faced in the coming future.

In the duration of the first month, J-on had been trying it’s very best to be alert with various kinds of issues that are relevant to UTAR community. The only reason for J-on to do so: to inform and to educate.

An effective information flow in the campus is yet to be improved. J-on realize clearly that transparency of policy and system is the most desperate expectation from the students.

Tension always arisen due to the lacking of acknowledgement. However, when J-on was trying so hard to ease the unnecessary tension, obstacles came to test the professionalism.

J-on faced some hardship to obtain the most precise information from relevant and credible sources for news process. This is probably due to untrustworthiness from the sources towards newly established J-on.

This had led to many pending interesting news story to be presented here.

When the journalists being rejected by the interviewees, and also the sources declined to comment anything, J-on was not giving up by keep on reaching a compromising situation between the both sides.

Obstacles are catalysts and stimulus for J-on to grow stronger and stronger.

By carrying the vision of information and education firmly, J-on had patiently overcome the obstacles and more effort to be put for the sake of perfect role performing.

This is the promise to all UTAR community. In addition, the community is not only limited to students, but also the bureaucrats and those intellects.

Of course, J-on will not survive without the support of all sources and readers. Sources are those who provide J-on information for news production, while readers are the community that J-on targeted.

Non-partisan news reporting and moving towards for betterment, that is why J-on still exist.

Undergraduates are the blossom of future leaders, the eyes of society and the voice of justice without biased partisan. It is always crucial for undergraduates to cultivate sincere concern to all matters that would benefit the people around, especially the weak one and the marginalised one.

It is also important for part of the community in catalysing the formation of perfect system, institution as well as organisation. Yet, the awareness of concerning and caring among the undergraduates are still a large space to reach.

As what Barack Obama had said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.”

We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. This is the time we get out of the current situation, where we are desperate for a platform to voice.

What is lacking now is the platform. The platform of informing and educating is indeed needed in this path of achieving betterment for all.

To advocate the proactive participation of UTAR community in issues that matters so as to bring betterment for the society is the mission of J-on.

An excellent system is resulted from a tight surveillance by third party. The well-working scenario of a community is ensured when different voices are allowed to be shared.

Welcome to world of J-on, welcome to the world of advocacy and active participation.
