Kampar, July 23 (J-on) – Repairs of the underground sewer line opposite of Block D to prevent further wastewater leaks in Block C cafeteria is near completion with only tarring works left.

The repair is expected to be a permanent solution to the on and off wastewater flood beside Block C cafeteria toilet that has occurred for over a year.

The foul stink of wastewater stagnation had brought discomfort to students who passed Block C when the accumulated wastewater failed to flow back from the manhole of the drain as intended.

Head of Department of Estate and Facilities (DEF) Abdul Majid Mohd Gani had stated that the repairs would be done during an interview with J-on two weeks ago.

“The sewer line was found to have dislodged after examining the wastewater channeling system,” said Gani.

Meanwhile one of the DEF personnel said the repair was specifically carried out to fix the Intermediate Pumping Station (IPS).

The closing of main road in front of Block D had cause inconvenience to drivers and bicyclists but it was inevitable because the IPS system was directly underground.

Traffic to the disrupted road is expected to be restored and bicyclist will be able to park at their regular spot on Monday.
