Petrol Rush Floods Kampar Petronas

Kampar, July 15 (J-on) – PETRONAS Petrol Station at New Town here was flooded with cars after the government announced an increase in petrol prices, starting tomorrow.

Most of the drivers were desperate to catch up with the last few hours of cheaper petrol fill-ins.

Observation by J-on found that a long vehicle queue started by main road stretching to the petrol station.






According to a report from The Star Online, the subsidies for sugar, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas and diesel will be cut as part of the gradual subsidy rationalisation programme.

Petrol RON95 will be up 5sen to RM1.85 per litre and diesel will be up 5sen to RM1.75 per litre.

Statement from the Prime Minister’s office said that RON 97 will no longer be subsidised. It will be subjected to a managed float, where the price will be determined by the automatic pricing mechanism.
