Kampar, July 22 (J-on) - Student Representarive Committee's (SRC) first monthly dialogue debuted today with only about 15 students in attendance but it didn’t stop the discussion from dragging for more than the allotted 1 hour time.

During the dialogue students expressed dissatisfaction towards the car parking issue as this crucial problem UTAR students face daily was not given a proper solution.

“The UTAR management should be responsible on developing more parking lots for students,” said William, 21, marketing student from FBF.

Also, Lee Suk Xia, 21 (Advertising) suggested that “they (UTAR management) should arrange more bus transportations for convenience of students living at Eastlake”.

She further pointed out that students who had walk from Eastlake to school had on a few occasions been robbed.

On the east gate parking, SRC chairman Oh Chin Eng, 22 said that the developer has decided to reduce the initial plan of RM80 fees for the 6 month parking pass to RM60. Initially it was only for the first 100 applicants.

He added the president was aware that students have been actively discussing this matter in Facebook for the past few weeks.

“In a speech during the SRC handover ceremony in Petaling Jaya two days earlier, the president mentioned that he had talked to the land developer to reduce the original RM 2 per entrance to RM 1.

“However, the president said he was not in a position to intervene the matter since the land belongs to the developer,” said Oh.

“The contractor promised to fill with layer of crusher run on the muddy land soon,” he told J-on, adding that Majlis Daerah Kampar (MDK) would be painting yellow line on both roads at Eastlake before police begin to issue summonses.

The SRC chairperson said he appreciated those who had actively participated in the dialogue today despite the poor turnout.
