Kampar, July 15 (J-on) - Residents of a hostel in Westlake were flabbergasted when bees appeared on their balcony and grew to an alarming number within hours before an entire swarm decided to move in their new home yesterday.
One of the resident Choo Kah Yee, 19, a first year biotechnology student expressed surprise at how quickly the hive grew.
"At first when one of my house mate saw it, she immediately closed the balcony's sliding door," Choo said.
"We thought that, the bees would go off after awhile as their numbers were small, but then it became a swarm by the end (of 8pm)", she added.

The Kampar Fire and Rescue Department was called in by Westlake management and by 10pm a small crowd of curious onlookers had gathered outside the house to witness how the matter would be dealt with.

The surviving bees fled its nest and swarmed light sources around the house, causing a slight commotion and sending onlookers scattering on their motorcycles and bicycles.
However there was no hive in sight.

An onlooker who wished to remain anonymous speculated that construction works around UTAR may have disturbed the natural habitat of the bees.
No one was hurt in the incident however a J-on photographer was stung and had since sought treatment at Kampar Hospital.
