Kampar, June 29 (J-on) - Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) Representative Navindran (Advertising Y2S2) attributed earlier today's punching incident during the 1Malaysia Food Carnival post-mortem meeting to the disrespectful conduct by its Publicity Manager, Lee Eng Aun, 23 (Advertising Y3S2).
Navindran who is also the event's Logistics cum Security Manager told J-on when met that the episode began during Lee's turn to receive feedback from the committee members.
"He couldn't take it when it reached his turn, he refused to admit his mistakes and became emotional and started spitting out vulgar words," he said.
Navindran added that after Lee had barged out of the meeting at about 12:10am, he went after Lee to demand that Lee return to the meeting and apologise to the committee members.
"When I approached him he started to shout "polis". I tried to pull him back to the meeting but he continued to shout so I panicked and hit him," he said.
However, Navindran expressed regret over the incident.
"Although what I did was in self defense, but it is still wrong to hit someone. Whatever conflict there is, let's clear the air, he is my senior. I'm sorry for what happened," he said.
The chairperson of the event, Lawrence Lye, 20 (Psychology Y3S2) when met said that during the incident, he had remained in the meeting room to calm his committee members.
