New UTAR Faculty Rep Allegedly Attacks Student

Kampar, June 29 (J-on) – A UTAR student was allegedly assaulted by the newly elected Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) representative outside Grand Kampar Hotel here at midnight today.

The victim, Lee Eng Aun, 23 (Advertising Y3S2) suffered a swollen chin after he was allegedly punched in the face following a heated post-mortem meeting for the 1Malaysia Food Carnival.

A police report has since been lodged at the Kampar District Police Station over the incident.

Speaking to J-on at the police station here, Lee said his girlfriend and him had left the meeting following a heated argument.

“While we were leaving the hotel and heading towards the car, suddenly one of the committee member (of the 1Malaysia Food Carnival event), Navindran punched me on my left chin,” he said.

Lee said that lodging the police report was due to concern for the the safety of his girlfriend and himself.

“As the FAS representative, he should protect the students, but this thing happened to me, I got punched from one of the representative,” he said.

Lee added that he will be taking the matter up with the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) later today.

At the time of publication, repeated attempts to reach Navindran for response were unsuccessful.
