Kampar, 14 June (J-on) - The Career Exploration Week 2010 (CEW) kicked off today with a series of talks and workshops from some 18 companies and bodies, a tempting week for the ambitious and meticulous planners that walk among Utarians.
Dr. Yeoh (middle) officially kicking off the week long event.
Speaking at the opening of the event at Heritage Hall, UTAR Vice President Dr. Yeoh Suan Pow stressed the significance of the week long agenda, encouraging students' active participation.
"Soft skills and life long learning are two important aspects for undergraduates, therefore UTAR has put alot of effort into such programmes," she said.
Not all boring talk: A group of students listen attentively to a Clinique representative for facial advice.
When contacted, CEW Public Relations and Publicity Chief Chai Hong Yun said that the event catered to students of various faculties with the goal of helping them to understand their future career description and options.
"Last year was a micro event, this year round its a macro one," he said, explaining the departure from last year's modest event.
The event organised by the Career Development Club is set to run from today until June 17, with several notable talks.
Among them are by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM) and Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
