November 23 (J-on) - Students falling sick in campus no longer need to go to Kampar new town with the newly opened Utar Wellness Clinic in Block C.

The doctor in-charged Dr Thilagavathy Ratnam said Utar Wellness Clinic served an average of four to five patients a day since opening.

She said the medical consultation fees varied according to the severity of one's illness.

"For normal flu and cough, it would cost around RM20.

"If it is more serious and we need to give higher dosage of antibodies, then it would be around RM30," said Dr Ratnam, added that she wanted to make it as affordable as possible for students.

Other than treating usual cases such as flu and cough, she said the clinic also provided other medical services and check-ups.

"We do blood tests, electrocardiography (ECG), and small procedures such as treating small cuts and dressing here too," said Dr Ratnam.

She added that the clinic was essentially a complete set-up as vaccines for Hepatitis B, Cervical Cancer, chicken pox, and tetanus were provided.

There is also a teleconference room set up when a patient needs to be referred to respective specialist.

"A teleconferencing appointment with the specialist would be arranged after 6pm for the patient," said Dr Ratnam, adding that there would be no consultation charges for the service at the moment.

The Utar Wellness Clinic located in room C109-110 operates from 9am to 5pm on weekdays except public holidays.
