As the Hindu community prepares to celebrate Deepavali, the new Little India in Brickfields serves as a beacon of light amid the backdrop of the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur.
The RM35million makeover of Brickfields was launched with much fanfare last Wednesday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who was on a state visit.
The historic event was witnessed by approximately 5,000 people who braved the traffic to get a glimpse of the Indian Prime Minister and to check out the colourful and vibrant new image of Little India in Brickfields.
The new look of Brickfields has certainly given a fresh beginning for the Indian community in Malaysia in tandem with our Prime Minister's effort to realise the concept of 1Malaysia.
