Kampar, Mar 28 (J-on): How far would you go to support a good cause? For Kenneth Tan Choon Yam and Khaw Yin Yi, it was going bald.

Khaw, a 22-year-old Journalism student from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR) and her boyfriend, Kenneth, 38, were participants of Operasi Botak.

The event was an effort by World Vision to increase the literacy rate among the indigenous communities in the interiors of Sabah, namely Tuaran and Kota Belud by equipping a mobile library and learning resource centre.

“We have books but they (the aborigines) have limited resources. I have been waiting for a chance to go bald anyway,” said Khaw.

Khaw and Tan going accepting World Vision’s challenge to go bald to raise funds.

“It is meaningful and good but you need a lot of courage, I don’t dare to do it,” said Jane Lee who is also Khaw’s cousin and supporter.

World Vision had planned to call up to 100 participants to gather a total of RM100,000 for their cause.

The couple managed to gather a total of RM2,050.

The haircut was sponsored by a local salon, Eroma.
