Kampar, Feb 6 (J-on) – Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) will start the “Green Alert Campaign” by not using polystyrene lunch boxes every Wednesday beginning February 17.

Chairman of UTAR Community Service (CS) Society Lim Meng Yang said the students were required to bring their own food container for buying take-away food from all cafeterias of the campus as no polystyrene lunch boxes will be provided on Wednesdays.

“For those who do not have a food container, they can just buy this from the cafeteria for only RM1.50 each,” he told J-on during an interview session.

Lim said the price of the food container is exactly the same as the retail cost; therefore, the society does not earn any profit from this.

“This campaign is to generate awareness on the danger of using polystyrene and to practice environmental friendly etiquette as an undergraduate,” he said.
