Public transport fever, Chinese New Year is around the corner

Kampar, Feb 6 (J-on) – This upcoming Chinese New Year holidays has fully booked the train seats and left limited seats for buses.
A visit to ticket counter at Kampar Bus Terminal and the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) train station shows that public transportation is at its peak during festive seasons.
People purchasing their last minute tickets for the upcoming holidays.
Agent Ekspress Grassland bus ticket operator, Noor Fariza, 26, said tickets for trips to the north such as Penang, Alor Setar and Sungai Petani were more sought after rather than the south which are Johor Bahru and Singapore.
Express bus seats are selling fast.
Financial Economic student Tan Chia Tee, 20, said he had already booked his bus ticket from Kampar to Penang two weeks ago to avoid last minute inconvenience.
Tan says it is better to buy tickets earlier.
Edaran Ekspress Sdn. Bhd. bus driver, Amir Hassan, 43, said ticket prices for his bus routes remained the same for Chinese New Year.
He added that tickets to destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Alor Setar and Johor Bahru are still available.
Amir says that students usually buy tickets early.
“Any additional trips for Chinese New Year will be added according to student demand,” he said.
KTMB operator, Mohd. Afhandi, 32, said that selling and booking of train tickets had began a month ago.
“Trips from Kampar to Kuala Lumpur and Butterworth on Feb 11 and 12 are sold out,” he said.
Tickets on preferred dates such as Feb 11 and 12 are sold out.
He added that train seats for this coming Chinese New Year are enough for students, thus, no additional trips will be added.
Accounting student Loh Yih Tying, 21, said that it is a norm to purchase train tickets early during the festive season who had purchase tickets three weeks ago to avoid any disappointment.
