Kampar, August 6 (J-on) – A gold colour Perodua Kancil parked in UTAR Kampar campus was reported stolen at around 4.30pm yesterday.

Ang Pei Shan, a third year Public Relations student who is the owner of the Perodua Kancil parked her car in Zone B in front of Block A at 2.15pm.

“I had just finished my Final Year Project discussion with my supervisor at Block A when I found my car was lost,” said Ang.

Immediately after Ang informed a guard, patrols were sent to other car parks and guard house security was tightened for outgoing vehicles.

Subsequently, a report with the Department of Safety and Security (DSS) as well as the Kampar police station was lodged.

“My parents scolded me when they knew the incident. They wondered how could the car be stolen on campus grounds,

“I have paid for the campus parking sticker and it is (campus parking) supposed to be safe,” Ang continued.

Ang added that she remembered her car was locked before she left.

Meanwhile, DSS head, Wong Kean Loong explained that the car stickers are issued to allow cars to drive in and park in the campus.

“The campus is big and the sticker cannot guarantee 100 percent the security of the cars which is considered personal property,” stated Wong.

He said this is the first time a car has gone missing in UTAR and the security will be tightened with checks for every cars entering and exiting both South and East gate.

“It is always hard to balance between freedom and strictness. When you give more freedom, things happen yet when you are strict, people complain,” said Wong.

The incident is currently under police investigation while DSS is keeping a lookout for the lost vehicle and assisting police investigation.

The gold colour Perodua Kancil’s plate number is PFA 7305. Any information can be directed to DSS or Kampar police station at 05-465 2222.
