Wholesome fun at anniversary festival

UTAR, February 19 (J-on): Families with little children and students visited the carnival-themed UTAR Anniversary Fest 2012 which took place yesterday.

The event was organised by the Centre of Foundation Studies to commemorate the university's ten glorious years.

Chairman of UTAR Council, Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik who was the day's guest of honour officiated the event at Heritage Hall.

Among the activities that took place at the carnival were children arts competition, inter-school storytelling competition and a Science and Mathematics quiz.

The festival also hosted a Food Festival which took place between Block A and Block B where visitors can purchase a myriad of delectable food items.

Mother of two Lai Chai Yan was impressed by the stalls and activities that were organised by the students.

“This is my first time visiting the campus and I find the activities to be very well prepared," said Lai while adding that the game booths can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

There was also an educational booth entitled Biology World at Block B where visitors had a glimpse of rare biological specimens.

Doctor Tahamide Yesmin who brought her entire family to the event commended the organisers' initiative. She also said that the university should organise more of such events in the future.

“The festival does not only make us food lovers happy, it also provided my young song with a good educational experience," said Tahamide.
