UTAR, February 18 (J-on) – A decade after the establishment of University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), this university is now the collaborative partner of 101 MoU in 14 countries which houses students from all walks of life.

Starting out with only 411 students in the Petaling Jaya branch, as of today UTAR has successfully nurtured over 25,000 individuals with three other distinguished campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Bandar Sungai Long and Kampar, Perak as well.

In conjunction with the university's 10th anniversary, a group of final year Public Relations students is organising a community development campaign that seeks to foster a sense of belonging among all UTARians.

“With this campaign, we want to emphasise how education has transformed lives and broadened the horizon of all individuals,” said Teoh Yik Kee, main director of this campaign at the launch of the event last Wednesday.

Guest of Honour: The campaign was officiated by Mr. Wong Chin Ho, who represented Deputy Home Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Lee Chee Leong.

Other guests at the launch were Barisan Nasional's coordinating officer YB Albert Chang Chun Cheun, UTAR President Dato’ Dr. Chuah Hean Teik and FAS Dean, Dr. Sebastion K. Francis.

The campaign will include a series of events organised by seven different teams which will take place throughout February and March.

Planned activities include an aboriginal village community service, fundraising for kidney patients and a mud ball making workshop.

Small role big impact: Every mud balls thrown will help to improve sludge and prevent algae growth.

One of the teams in the campaign has collaborated with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).

Happy hunting ground: One of the campaign's team will be working closely with the NKF..

The proceeds from the activities conducted by the aforementioned team will be donated to the NKF.
