Kampar, Jan 13 (J-on) - Higher Education Deputy Minister Dr. Hou Kok Chung launches an eye-dotting ceremony at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Perak Campus and has taken the opportunity to meet with parents and new students as his visit coincided with the registration day.

According to Hou, students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities and the university needs to frequently organize quality activities for students with the soft skill programme as an important component in the learning process.

“A comfortable environment and the newly built five-story library is able to provide a better place for students to study during weekends, giving them a chance to communicate and mix around with their coursemates,” he said.

In support with the university’s objective, the Ministry of Higher Education has contributed RM 7,000 to promote cultural awareness in the campus in line with 1Malaysia concept which includes the inaugural multilingual public speaking competition.

According to Chuah, UTAR was officially launched in year 2002 and now has some 16 thousand graduates and is rapidly growing.

For this January intake, the university will enroll some 12 hundred new students in four campuses,” said Chuah.

In order to meet the challenges of globalization and emphasis on a wholesome development, there are activities for students to grow throughout their time on campus.

With the new extension of infrastructure and facilities such as the new library, administration building, teaching and learning complex, lecture halls and heavy engineering workshop, students will be abe to experience a state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities.
