KAMPAR – The Vice President (Student
Affairs) of the University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Associate Professor Dr. Teh Chee
Seng has commended the students of the University for making out time to attend
the go green activity organized by Public Relations Volunteerism 3.0 group held
at the Student Pavilion Block C on Saturday 22nd February 2014.
In his speech at the opening ceremony
tagged “Stone Age Night”, Dr. Teh called on UTAR students to be actively
involved in lending a helping hand to preserve the environment.
Earlier in his opening speech, the
director of the campaign, Mr. Ronald Chan Juan Chuan expressed happiness over
the huge number of students that attended the event.
“It is a great pleasure to organize this
event for tonight, said Ronald, the director of PR campaign. This is my four
years of study in UTAR, and I have never seen much people turning out for this
kind of event before”

Mr. Ronald also noted that to protect
the environment, everyone must play a role by eating vegetables, because this
can bring some impacts towards the environment. He also encouraged students to
take initiative to go green, stressing that the funds raised will be given to
the Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGO) to help in their campaign to protect
the environment.
The event which has in attendance the
Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Dr. Cheah Phaik Kin also
featured singing performance by Darrel Neoh, martial arts shadow performance by
Master Ow Ken Hoong modern dance by the Dance Club and the exclusive beat-box
performed by Mr. Ng Pei Gang. The event reached its climax with the singing
performance by three celebrity singers from ASTRO, namely, Geraldine Gan,
Justin Ng and Nicole Lai who sand two songs each followed by one song which the
three did together, evoking loud ovation from the audience. These performances
were aimed at encouraging the students to go green and save the environment.

Later on the guests were entertained by
owner of Vegan Life, Mr. Ivan Chiong Phal Loon who provided them with pure
veganism meal symbolizing the message for the occasion.
The event ended with e-bike lucky draw
sponsored by Mr. Kong Chee Kin, owner of Yik Wang Enterprise who equally
presented the grand prize to the lucky winner.
