UTAR, July 12 (J-on) - The English Language Society has organised a Word Fair Competition which employs more on appraising the participants’ command of English rather than looking for a winner who is in luck.
Encompassed within a two-day event, there are six stations which must be completed in order to reign as champion for the competition.

The stations which are located throughout Block B, C, D, E, G and H have attracted a fair number of participants in each station. Each participant is required to pay RM1 to take part in the games.
The challenges include treasure hunt, word train, anagrams, crossword puzzle and word searching. In some of the challenges, participants could choose their preference of difficulty level.
The purpose of organizing this word fair is not only to improve the language proficiency of the UTAR students, it is also to provide more exposure towards the English Language Society.
When one of the Station Masters was questioned regarding the purpose of the fair, Lan Sing Min from English Language Course said, “Why not? This fair not only enables students to acquire new words and knowledge, they could also enjoy doing it without spending much.”
The prize giving ceremony is officiated by Dr Sebastian K. Francis, the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Science on July 4.
