Kampar, April 11 (J-On) - Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Kampar held an interfaculty competition at UTAR’s sport complex, and among the games that are played are volleyball, futsal and basketball.


Sports Club chairperson, Piong Chee Keai, 22, said that the purpose of the competition was to allow undergraduates from different faculties to be able to interact with each other.


“The purpose of having this interfaculty competition is to select players to participate in a selection competition.

“This is also an opportunity to search out for talent, also as national backup, as those who are good would be chosen to represent for UTAR campus, then state and eventually national,” said Piong.

Volleyball competition:

It was a competition between two teams; Team A beats Team B by 25-15 and 25-11 score.

Team A comprised of Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) students and Team B was a mix of different faculties.

Team A representative, Lum Meng Leong who happened to be the Captain for Volleyball club gave his opinion on the match they won.

“I felt satisfied with the competition just now, as I am able to compete with other faculties,” said Lum.

Futsal competition:

Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Team B has been crowned champions of the Inter-Faculty futsal tournament, leading the table with 4 points.

Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS) Team A were in second place with 3 points, while FBF Team A came in third placing with 1 point.

The futsal tournament consisted of nine teams. The top three finalists then competed among each other for the top spots.

According to FBF- Team B Captain, Yogenajegan Naganathan, 20, his team took part in the competition for fun.

“We did not expect to win, as we were having some internal crisis among team members prior to the sports carnival.”

“We all did our best and really put effort into the match,” said Yogenajegan, at the same time complementing his teammates Thanesh, Han Moon Kim, Khairil Akhtiar, Mohannan Narayanan, Thian Kai Zen, Wayne Lee and also teammates who played in the qualifying round Eng Hock, Kai Siang, Kok Wai as they did played superbly.

Yogenajegan also highlighted that, his teammates were from various ethnic backgrounds which consisted of Chinese, Malay and Indian, reflecting the 1Malaysia concept. He added that, the 1Malaysia spirit should be exercised in our daily lives.
