CF spreads Christmas cheer with joyful musical

An evening of wonders displayed the true meaning of Christmas.
UTAR, November 29 (J-on) - When it comes to Christmas, most people think that the celebration is all fun and parties. Little do they know that this day stand for the birth of Jesus Christ.
Held on November 22 at Heritage Hall, Joy to the World was an event organised by the UTAR Christian Fellowship to share the meaning behind the significance of Christmas.
The event featured an assortment of performances that ranged from musical drama and choir to worship and prayers.
On the night itself, close to 800 students turned up. The turnout exceeded organiser’s initial estimation by 200 students and broke previous years’ records.
According to organising chairperson of the event, Yoong Keat Wei, he decided to hold a bigger scale celebration this year so as to reach out to a wider spectrum of the varsity community.
In a bid to attract more guests, no entrance fee was charged. When questioned, Yoong responded by saying that “gospel is free for everyone.”

The highlight of the evening was the Christmas musical drama, Joy to the World, which the event was named after. Incorporating elements of gospel, dance routines, Christmas carols and acting, the musical tells the story of the search for a king that will reign over all.
The event came to an end with the choir team leading the guests in singing well-known Christmas tunes such as Feliz Navidad and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
Jollity and geniality : Performances on the stage is occasionally accompanied by a round of applause and laughter. |
