Bicycle torched in 13th arson attack at Taman Kampar Perdana

Kampar, Sept 11 (J-On): After a peaceful one week, an arson attack took place again at Taman Kampar Perdana or known as Eastlake, the place where many of University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) students stay.

Despite the tight security, a bicycle was torched at midnight while everyone was sleeping.

The UTAR student who stays in the house ran out to the police post at 4am yesterday upon seeing the fire. However the policemen was not there as it rained heavily. Therefore, he called the RELA personnel.

“When I reached here, the fire was already put off. I asked the student to make a police report but he declined. I suspect the attack was done by the local residents here,” said Kampar RELA platoon leader Captain Ng Kim Meng.

According to Head of Kampar Police Station, Sergeant Major Abdul Hadi Baba, the incident happened between 3.30am to 4.30am.

“Eventhough it was a small attack, the student should come out and lodge a police report,” he added.

Keranji BN Coordinator, Chang Gwo Chyang who was at the scene said, “The arsonists are challenging the police or they might be crazy or they simply want to go against the police.”

He added that he will have further discussion with the police on the prevention of the attacks.

Police has set up a check point at the entrance of Taman Kampar Perdana last week. RELA personnels are also helping in making rounds around the area.

The house facing the field makes this arson case the 13th arson attack in Taman Kampar Perdana.

A car and a motorbike parked at the compound were not set on fire.
