Kampar, 30 Nov (J-on)- Two students have been trapped in between ground floor and first floor of Block D’s elevator for one and half hour this morning.
The victim, Raymond, a Biomedical student said that the elevator stopped all of the sudden yet luckily the lights, ventilators and emergency bell are still working.
“We tried to seek for help by shouting out loud as well as utilizing the emergency bell. We too informed our friend by texting though it took some time to attain them,” he said.
Block D’s elevator that trapped students for one and half hour.
Officers from Estate Department reached the scene shortly after the incident and try to pry open the elevator’s door.
“We couldn’t help the students to get out from the lift because they were trapped in the middle floor. We have to call our contractor from Ipoh,” said Teoh Swee Beng, a senior executive of Estate Department.
According to Teoh, the incident occurred because of the spoiled controller.
When asked the possibility of the incident to occur in the future, Teoh said that it is hard to predict, still, UTAR are having monthly safeguarding for all facilities provided.
In one hand, the student uttered his dissatisfaction toward the management for taking such a long time to resolve the problem.
“I wonder why they didn’t call Kampar’s ‘Bomba’ for help as a replacement for the contractor. I felt awfully disappointed, ” said Raymond.
For the time being, Block D’s elevator is now under maintenance and the date to re-fix is yet to be determined.
