UTAR’s first ever live
runway fashion show, LUC: The Classic Vogue closed its blinds to an admiring
crowd on August 16th, 2013 at UTAR Perak Campus Heritage Hall.
Aimed to showcase the
different classical costumes of different cultures from all around the world, LUC
(acronym for Legendary Uniqueness of Culture): The Classic Vogue, is the fourth
of a circle of events organized by the UTAR International Friendship Society’s
for the Cultural Festival.
“We’ve been preparing
for the show for almost a year.” said Simranjit Kaur, Chairperson of the
fashion show event.
Mr Balasubramaniam
Kuppusamy, Senior Lecturer of Centre of Foundation Studies and advisor of
International Friendship Society and Mrs Pushparani Thilaganathan, founder of
Miss Malaysian Indian Global both took to the stage to provide words of
encouragement and applaud the hard work of the committee after the
Chairperson’s brief opening speech. Rosemary Xavier, Executive Director of the
Cultural Fiesta and the Chairperson of International Friendship Society was
also amongst the VIPs invited.
The guest of honor, Ms
Harnesh Kaur, Miss Malaysian Indian Global 2012 & 2013 launched the opening
of the show after addressing the audience.

A runway drama, led by
Phanukaphan Opart and Prishalini was acted out before the final highlight of
the event, which was the live runway fashion show, took place.

“The fashion show at the end was my favourite part of the event.” said Lee Ai Lian, Year 2 Semester 2 Psychology Student.
The fashion show was
put together by stage director Angeline Kok with the final piece designed by designer
Ong Joe Lyn.
“I hope that the idea
and the message we want to bring to the audience is portrayed and understood by
the audience at the end of the show.” said Simranjit in her closing address.
