BF Jajambo Charity Night 2014: A Night of Retro

UTAR Kampar, 8 August
: A night of excitement performances organized by the
Banking and Finance Society had attracted around 1500 UTAR students at the UTAR
Grand Hall for its first ever Jajambo Charity Night.

Siew Huei, the chairperson of the retro-themed event expressed her appreciation
towards the VIPs present, and especially towards her committee members in her
opening speech for working hard together in preparing for the event. Dr. Teh
Chee Seng who was in attendance also gave a speech. “An event is not only for
enjoyment but also can get to know each other as well as a great time to see
the fruits of their (committee) labour,” said the UTAR vice president.
A collection of old-fashioned items were exhibited
at the entrance of the Grand Hall.
The
main purpose of the event was to raise funds for the conflict issues in South
Sudan. A mock cheque of RM8000 was presented as a charity fund to World Vision
Malaysia, which was represented by two officials.
The
highlights of the event were the performances by local artists Thomas and Jack,
and Alvin Chong. They made the crowd go wild with their singing performances as
well as interactions with the audience.

The
night was also filled with other enjoyable performances. UTAR Dance Club, WowB
and Humble First! All gave spectacular dance performances, performing to retro
songs such as Jajambo and Mambo No. 5, as well as current pop songs like All
About That Bass and Tae Yang’s Ringa Linga.
Several
musical acts were also performed during the event. Ng Pei Gang together with
his friend Emmanuel showcased their talents with a beatbox and acoustic guitar
performance, while the Virgin Boys gave heart-warming acoustic performances of
pop hit songs like Rude by Magic! and Billionaire by Bruno Mars.

Live
bands Everyday.com and Double Cheese Burger also made the crowd, who were in
retro gear, jump and sing with their exciting performances. The enjoyable event
came to a close at 12.30 a.m.
