Kampar, 12 July – More than 600 jubilant
students massed at the Heritage Hall entrance in the evening of 12th
July eagerly clutching the tickets of the Asian Cultural Night 2014. They were
to be entertained by the flamboyantly exciting performances throughout the
grand event organized by Asian Cultural Society (ACS) of UTAR. This occasion was consolidated to celebrate
the essence of 1Malaysia.

“The
main purpose of Asian Cultural Night is to unite the students of the university
from various background and races to create awareness on the importance of
understanding our diversity of races in Malaysia in conjunction with the
1Malaysia concept as well as bringing out their talents,” stated Mr. Satheesh
the chairman of the event and also the society while giving speech in the
event.
The guest of honour of
the event was Mr. Mahaganapathy Dass, President of 1Malaysia Indian Student
Movement (1MISM), Dato’ Vicknesh Veera, Director of 1Malaysia Education Event
Management Sdn. Bhd, and local business man, Mr Raja who is running a scrap
metal business in Kampar.

Approximately,
20 performances were staged, amongst them instrumental performances, sketch
dances, mimicry, singing, traditional dances and dramas. The most awaited part
of the event was open dance floor with ‘urumi mellam’, a traditional Indian
drum performance. The audience energetically took part in this session. “This
is the first time I’m participating in such dance floor and it is totally
different of them all,” said Manikandan Nair, a Banking and Finance student,
one of the participants.
Rufina
Merry Ambrose, the formal Emcee of the splendid event said that the event wasa major success. “Feedbacks from students have been good and
inspiring, I hope students will be more supportive in the upcoming events of
Asian Cultural Society," she said.
