UTAR, April 10 (J-on): Sea breeze and sunny weather set the perfect landscape for participants to build a sense of camaraderie at the recent “STARDREAM2012” on board the SuperStar Libra cruise.
The two-day event which started on April 8 was organised by the UTAR Perak campus’ Student Representative Committee (SRC) as part of the series of events to commemorate the university’s 10th anniversary.
Just dance: A dance number entertained the crowd on board the cruise. |
Around 370 people participated in the cruise which provided the perfect setting for students to interact amongst themselves and build a sense of camaraderie.
Dr. Teh Chee Sing, the university’s Vice President commended the committee for their efforts at a grand ball held at the cruise’s Stardust Lounge.
“This is actually my first time being on a cruise and I hope all participants will enjoy and appreciate this extraordinary experience,” said Teh.
Maiden voyage: Teh's first time on board a cruise was a memorable one. |
According to StarDream’s chairman Chai Wai Kit, the event’s relatively new concept was part of a concerted effort to organise an event that could provide participants with a brand new experience.
“We wanted to introduce a new concept and a different event compared to what UTAR has been doing,
“The title StarDream actually came from UTAR. The ending syllabus of S-T-A-R is the same as T-A-R of UTAR. We chose this title because we want to convey the message of reaching for the stars and achieving your dreams,” Chai explained.
Sponsorship manager Isaac Foh said that the event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the event’s advisors as well as the sponsorship of Star Cruise.
Dedicated bunch: The committee members went the extra mile to make the event possible. |
