Kampar, March 9 (J-on) - Some sixty students attended an Industrial Attachment Preparatory Workshop organized by the Student Development Committee from 10am to 1pm today.

The workshop was open to all Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) students but priority was given to Y2T3 and final year students in order to prepare them for their upcoming Industrial Attachment.

Public Relations, Journalism and Psychology students participated in the workshop.

There were two sessions whereby the first session was hosted by Ng Yoke Ying to teach students how to write a proper resume and Curriculum Vitae (CV).

The second session was conducted by Lionel Keith Vytialingam, passing on interviewing skills to students.

Both speakers are lecturers from the Department of Languages and Linguistics.

“Out of the 100 resumes you mail out, statistically you should get 10 interviews and one job offer,” said Ng in her presentation.

Suzzane Ng Yoke Ying presented some knowledge on writing resume and CV to students.

She also gave students some tricks in order to stand out when writing a resume, such as using different colored paper and different sized paper or even deliver the resume in person.

“Don’t ask how much you are going to help during first in interview,” said Lionel.


Lionel shared some knowledge on interviewing skill.

Besides, he shared some proper behavior during an interview session such as to sit properly, switch off the phone, wear formal attire and so on.

Ng Kok Soon, Y2S3 Psychology student said, “I gained a lot extra knowledge which I can’t get from the text book alone.”

Kiew Poh Sian, a Y3S3 Journalism student expressed her gratitude that she was able to gain some knowledge on how to write a creative resume and get some addition tips before going for an interview.
