Kampar, 10 Feb (J-on) – The usually quiet counter at Division of Finance (DFN) was more hyped up and crowded when at least 60 students were found queuing up to make payment for their tuition fees.
Students flocked to DFN as the deadline for payment is on Friday February 11. Late payment will be fined RM10 per week.
The situation got even more unorganized when one counter closed for lunch. Students that were queuing up in two lines were seen squeezing into one lane.
“I have waited 30 minutes to pay my bill. I am used to it already and the service is very slow. The staffs that are just standing at the back should help out,” Shirley Lim, a Marketing student said.
She also added that the Division should put up a notice of lunch time so that the students will not have to waste their time queuing up but at the end were told that the counter is closed.
According to Tam Wai Yeng, an English Language student, she has not received her PTPTN loan yet and she has to borrow money from her friend to make the payment.
“To improve the service, UTAR should open more counters because the office is not fully occupied,” she added.
Another English Language student, Foo Song Moi says that, “It’s troublesome when the PTPTN loan is late. Some students received the loan last night and now, it is crowded here as students only have two days left to make the payment. UTAR should extend the deadline.”
An officer in DFN said that UTAR is not extending the payment deadline.
She also said that they will take turns to go for their lunch from 11.30am-1.30pm.
A check at the two Public Bank ATM machines in Block C showed students queuing up to transfer money into their debit card to make payment.
