UTAR, June 29 (J-on) - A huge crowd consisting of students, lecturers, and staff flocked to the new cafeteria at Block K, which opened on June 27.
Compared to Block C cafeteria, the new cafeteria is a lot cooler.
“I like the cleanliness of this new cafeteria,” said English Language student Majura.
“This cafeteria is spacious and clean. Compared to the Block C cafeteria, there is also a better variety of food here," Biochemistry student, Katherine commented.
Chicken rice proved to be a crowd favourite.
While students were generally pleased with the new cafeteria, the same can't be said for certain lecturers.
“There aren't many stalls and the selection of food is just not good enough,” lamented Faculty of Business and Finance lecturer Rajaletchumy.
She prefers the Block C cafeteria as there is a staff eating area equipped with air conditioners.
Faculty of Business and Finance lecturer Wei Chooi Yi was also not pleased.
“There are a lot of flies around and very few stalls. Overall, food is okay but the service is really slow,” said Wei.
However unlike other cafeterias in the university, Block K's cafeteria have a separate room reserved for VIPs such as MQA officials and the Minister of Higher Education.
“We do not have a room to entertain VIPs or guests previously, but we have it now,” said Abdul Majid, Head of Department of Estate and Facilities.
