From 12th to 15th August 2013, UTAR Heritage Hall beckoned those who dared to die to challenge this semester’s haunted house event. Said to be the largest scale ever in the history of UTAR’s haunted house events, Dare To Die attracted more than 800 participants in its four day run.

Do you Dare to Die? Do You Dare to face the darkness.
“We were worried about the turnout because the event coincided with the Ghost Festival month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. But the response was so overwhelming that we had to turn people away.” said Adrian Lee, Chairperson of the Dare To Die event.

“The event was supposedly to be held from 10am to 4pm. But the hall was too bright during the day, so we decided to extend it to 10pm to make it more scary.” said Lee.

The participants were asked to find 6 keys and also locate the exit of the haunted maze in under 10 minutes. The fastest challenger stands to win RM200 worth of cash.

“I’m curious to see what the haunted house is like.” said Liew Shy Teng from Foundation in Science.

“It wasn’t very scary. And the keys were really hard to find because the ghost were holding onto it and covering it up.” said Vashantaan after his experience in the haunted maze.

“Many people turned up more than once just to participate in both the daytime experience and the nighttime experience as well.” said Christine Chua, Publicist Head.

“We have around 100 helpers playing ghosts in the maze everyday. But we were still quite shorthanded on helpers because people didn’t turn up when they were supposed to.” said Chua.

Ghosts assembled: The helpers played an important part in the success of the Dare To Die event.
The Dare To Die event was the second of a circle of events organized by the UTAR International Friendship Society’s for the Cultural Festival and sponsored by Super Star International Beauty School and Bright and Sound.
